The Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has underscored the significance of royal guidance in maintaining effective operations within the state.
The newly appointed Customs Area Controller for the command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Najeem Ogundeyi, expressed this during a visit to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, last week.
In a recent update shared on its Facebook page, the service explained that the visit was a component of the acting CAC's familiarisation tour following his recent assumption of duty. Ogundeyi was accompanied by senior officers from the Command to pay homage to the monarch and members of the Ilorin Emirate Traditional Council.
In his remarks, Ogundeyi noted that the purpose of the visit was to reinforce the existing cordial relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and the traditional institution.
He described the Emir as a symbol of stability and unity, further emphasising the "importance of royal guidance in ensuring effective Customs operations within the state."
"This visit has allowed me to formally introduce myself and my management team, while soliciting the cooperation and support of Your Royal Highness and other traditional rulers in promoting peace, security and seamless Customs activities in Kwara State," Ogundeyi said.
In his response, the Emir commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for deploying experienced and professional officers to Commands across the country, noting that such strategic postings enhance border security and contribute to national economic development.
"I also assure the NCS, Kwara Area Command, of the palace's continued support and cooperation in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities," His Royal Highness added.
The visit concluded with prayers from the Emir and a group photograph, symbolising the sustained collaboration between the Service and the traditional institution.
