Kwara TUC Chairman Urges Federal Government To Tackle Insurgency And Fix Economy

Date: 2026-01-03

The Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Kwara chapter, Abdulrahman Onikijipa, has called on the federal government to intensify efforts to improve the economy and address insurgency alongside other security challenges.

In an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, Mr Onikijipa stated that Nigeria possesses the necessary resources to be a great nation if it is properly managed and fixed.

"The government at all levels should ensure there is peace, unity, and economic prosperity in the new year. We want 2026 to be the year of turnaround for Nigeria. It is time for every leader and the public to support the government to tackle insurgency and promote peace, unity, and economic stability," he remarked.

Mr Onikijipa, who also serves as the Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara branch, praised President Bola Tinubu for his tireless work in fixing the country.

"We need to support the leaders for the country to grow in the year 2026," he added.

The TUC Chairman further appealed to Nigerians, regardless of their tribe or religion, to remain committed to the peace, stability, and unity of the nation rather than leaving every responsibility to the government.

Mr Onikijipa extended his congratulations to every Nigerian who witnessed the start of 2026.

"May Almighty God see us through in sound health and economic prosperity," he prayed.
