From EndSARS Ashes to Agricultural Powerhouse: Kwara Agro-Mall Fully Restored
The Kwara State Government has completed the comprehensive renovation of the Kwara State Agro-Mall in Ilorin and formally handed it over to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a modern agricultural coordination and service hub.
Dr Afees Abolore Alabi, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, inspected the facility and praised the high standard of work, which includes upgraded storage warehouses, office spaces, and service areas designed to streamline support for farmers and aggregators.
He described the project as a strong testament to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's determination to rebuild and strengthen agricultural infrastructure across the state.
Originally vandalised during the 2020 EndSARS protests, the Agro-Mall has been fully restored and transformed into a one-stop centre for input distribution, extension services, farmer registration, and coordination of all agricultural programmes.
The Commissioner emphasised that the revamped complex will enhance government logistics, improve programme alignment, and significantly increase farmers' access to quality inputs and technical support, ultimately driving higher productivity and food security.
Dr Alabi noted that the facility now offers an organised, responsive platform for ongoing engagement with farmers, aggregators, cooperatives, and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.
Aligning with His Excellency's vision, the Commissioner explained that "the facility will support food security, rural development and sustainable economic growth. With the renovation completed, it is now ready to host programmes, trainings and agricultural activities, to further strengthen the state's farming ecosystem.
Those on the Commissioner's entourage include the Permanent Secretary of Ministry, Mrs. Funke Sokoya, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Alhaja Risikat Atinuke Abdulazeez, alongside Directors from both ministries.
