Governor AbdulRazaq Mourns Friend Segun Awolowo Jr., Grandson of Late Obafemi Awolowo
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed deep sorrow and stated he is heartbroken over the death of his friend and associate, Mr. Segun Awolowo Jr.
Segun Awolowo Jr., who served two terms as the former Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), was the grandson of the late statesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. He passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the age of 62.
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye: "Segun was a great friend, a great public servant, and a jolly-good fellow whose company everyone cherished. His death is truly devastating, and he will be sorely missed for every good thing that he stood for."
Governor AbdulRazaq urged family, friends, and associates to find solace in his fine legacies of excellent public service, his devotion to family and friends, and his dedicated service to the country at different times.
He concluded by praying to God to grant repose to his soul and to comfort his wife, children, and elderly mother.
