Kwara Lawmaker Donates Medical Equipment to Hospitals and Mobility Aids for Persons with Disabilities
Tunji Olawuyi, Member of the House of Representatives for the Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun, and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in Kwara State, has donated medical equipment to the General Hospital in Omu-Aran.
The lawmaker also extended donations to ECWA Hospital, Oke Igbala, and individuals in the constituency to support mobility aids for people with disabilities.
At a presentation ceremony on Saturday, Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, thanked Mr Olawuyi for his community-focused efforts, urging beneficiaries to utilise the donated items responsibly.
Maj.-Gen. Lasisi Abidoye, a former President of the Omu-Aran Development Association, praised the gesture, stressing the importance of healthcare in societal progress and encouraging further contributions.
Shuaib Olanrewaju, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended Mr Olawuyi for continuing the tradition of community development in Kwara State.
The Chief Medical Director of General Hospital, Omu-Aran, Dr Lekan Oguntoye, noted that it was not the first time the lawmaker had contributed to the hospital and commended his continued support.
Mr Oguntoye also lauded the lawmaker's efforts in backing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's initiatives to improve healthcare in rural areas, emphasising the positive impact of such contributions.
In his speech, Mr Olawuyi emphasised the need to use the donated items responsibly and cautioned against selling them, stressing their purpose in improving healthcare delivery.
The ceremony, a medical emergency involving a pregnant woman, was swiftly addressed using one of the donated items, showcasing the immediate impact of the donation.
