Otoge Transforms to Kwara Redemption Movement Ahead of 2027 Election Bid
The Otoge movement, which supported Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq's election victory in the 2023 governorship race, has rebranded to the Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM) with ambitions to offer alternative governance in the state by the 2027 general elections.
Coordinator of the movement, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, announced the rebranding during the inauguration of the local chapter in Ilorin over the weekend. He stated that KRM was established over a year ago with the goal of driving a positive political shift in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 polls.
A press statement issued by Mr. Akogun and made available to our reporter in Abuja, Monday, said: "We are not satisfied with the state of affairs generally in the state," he said promising the members a manifesto in form of a handbook that will explain further what KRM represents in the politics of Kwara state.
Akogun explained that within the one year of KRM's existence, the body has sponsored programmes in major Kwara languages on radio and television to promote the vision and objectives of the movement.
The coordinator noted that the difference between KRM and other groups is in the strong bond it has created with the people of the state with a servant-leader mentality while others lord themselves over the people.
According to him, "KRM shall strive to create a culture of leading people with fairness, compassion and fidelity, knowing that bad leadership has failed Kwarans thus far.
"Our only tool at the KRM is to change the mindset of the people from the current governance and convince them to follow us as many as possible, using the slogan: Sensitisation, Mobilisation and Organisation (SMO)."
Akogun explained that, "all the members of KRM are party workers, people who have been given assignments to make them earn their place of honour in the history of the state, if they act well on their part as they have roles cut out for them at different levels."
