UNICEF Donates 1,982 Cartons of Therapeutic Food to Kwara to Fight Child Malnutrition
The Kwara State Government has received 1,982 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) from UNICEF to address child malnutrition across the state.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, who received the supplies on behalf of the government, reiterated the administration's pledge to enhance child nutrition and reduce fatalities linked to malnutrition.
According to a statement by Press Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Saad Hamdalat, on Wednesday, the Commissioner said, “The supply was procured through Ariel Foods Nigeria and made possible through the UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund, a match-funding mechanism designed to provide life-saving nutrition commodities for vulnerable children.”
She credited the timely delivery to the state government's $100,000 contribution to the UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund, saying, “This investment has directly facilitated the procurement and delivery of this vital consignment to ensure effective management of acute malnutrition among children in the state. Kudos to our people's Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the timely intervention.”
El-Imam emphasised that this effort reflects the administration's commitment to quality healthcare, particularly for the most vulnerable.
She also appreciated UNICEF for its continued support and Ariel Foods Nigeria for ensuring prompt delivery of the supplies.
She assured that the ministry would work closely with stakeholders to ensure the RUTF reaches children in need across the state.
