Governor Ahmed Set to Reshuffle Cabinet
Many Commissioners, Special Advisers to go Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, is set to reshuffle his cabinet any moment from now, a highly placed government source has revealed to National Pilot.
According to our investigation, the shakeup would affect many Commissioners and Special Advisers considered not pulling their weights so far. This followed Ahmed’s determination to give dividends of democracy to Kwarans through his Shared Prosperity programme.
A usually dependable source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that every necessary arrangement had been perfected to realise the goal, stressing that the governor had made up his mind to bring people with fresh ideas into the system for accelerated socio-economic development in the state.
“Although the governor had carried out two minor cabinet reshuffles since his assumption of office, the planned one is going to be far-reaching,” maintained the source.
Confirming the development, another highly placed source disclosed that the Ahmed-led administration has been collating the list of cabinet members believed to have lived below expectations in the discharge of their duties.
According to the source, “You would agree with me that the governor is a man of due process and so he will not tolerate anything that will rubbish his efforts at making life better for the good people of Kwara State. So, he has decided to replace his cabinet members who are not performing up to the demands of their portfolios.
“Governor Ahmed wants dividends of democracy to be enjoyed by Kwarans regardless of their political affiliations or religious beliefs. In fact, I can confidently disclose to you that any moment from now, the cabinet reshuffle will be announced.”
The governor, it would be recalled, carried out a minor change of guards on Tuesday July 3, 2012. The development confirmed National Pilot’s exclusive report in its Volume 16, No 15, of Thursday 21st - Sunday 24th June, 2012.
The affected cabinet members then were Alhaji Sakariyawu A. Onimago from Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives to Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development; Alhaji Raji Mohammed from Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives.
Others were Mr Bode Olayemi from Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Alhaji Mohammed Baba Kpan from Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources to Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
In another minor cabinet reshuffle late last year, the Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Mr. Samuel Bamisaiye was moved to the Ministry for Social Development, Culture and Tourism to replace Hajia Ramata Abaya, who is now Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development. Barrister Anthony Towoju, who was in charge of Sports and Youth Development, was transferred to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry as the new commissioner.
