Gov AbdulRazaq Describes Wole Oke's Death as Painful Exit of a Visionary Leader
Kwara State Governor, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Chief Wole Oke, a revered All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, lawmaker during Nigeria's Second Republic, and a respected statesman.
Chief Oke, the Jagunmolu of Shao and member of the APC Elders' Council, passed away in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 70. The governor described him as a “great statesman and community leader” who championed his causes with intellectual rigour, principled arguments, and unwavering dedication.
Governor AbdulRazaq highlighted Oke's legacy of peaceful advocacy and his commitment to progressive ideals, noting that his contributions to public service and governance left an indelible mark on Kwara State and Nigeria. The leader's departure, he added, is a painful loss for the nation.
“He will be sorely missed. He was a courageous, yet calm man who spoke truth to power. He was a forthright and blunt man whose position on issues is always clear,” according to the Governor.
Governor AbdulRazaq commiserates with the Ohoro of Shao and the entire community, the family of the deceased, and members and leaders of the APC in Moro Local Government and Kwara State.
The Governor asks God to give comfort to his family and everyone who mourns the late statesman.
