The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has praised Kwara State Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for honouring the late Justice Suleiman Kawu, the first Chief Judge of Kwara State and Madawaki of Ilorin , by naming the newly constructed Court House in Ilorin after him.

In a statement signed by the Union's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, IEDPU's National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, thanked the governor for recognising Justice Kawu's legacy through the naming of the landmark judicial facility.

The union highlighted Justice Kawu's pivotal role in establishing Kwara State's judiciary from its inception, recalling his unwavering dedication to justice and his reputation as a stoic yet principled jurist. Alhaji Abdulmalik described him as a foundational figure whose contributions laid the groundwork for the state's legal system.

Governor AbdulRazaq's decision to commemorate Justice Kawu's service underscores the administration's commitment to celebrating individuals who have shaped the state's developmental trajectory.

Abdulmalik said that the late jurist deserves the honour as he was not just a member of the first generation of lawyers produced by Kwara State but was also the first son of the State who became and served creditably as a Justice of the Supreme Court.
