Housewife Seeks Divorce, Cites Irreconcilable Differences and Domestic Conflicts

Date: 2024-11-26

Mrs Toyeebat AbdulSalam has petitioned the Centre Igboro Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, to dissolve her marriage to Mr AbdulSalam Toheeb, citing irreconcilable differences and persistent domestic disputes.

Residing in the Gaa-Odota area of Ilorin, Mrs Toyeebat told the court that her marriage had become unbearable due to constant conflicts, which reportedly began after the birth of their first child. She expressed her desire to part ways, stating that attempts at reconciliation had proven futile.

The case is expected to proceed with both parties presenting their sides.

She said, “Ever since I gave birth to my first child, we always fight almost every day. I have five children, and yet the fight still hasn't stopped. It has gotten to a point whereby I can't take it anymore. That's why I'm filing for divorce.”

When asked by the presiding magistrate, Idris Etsu, whether she wanted to retain custody of the children, the complainant declined.

She requested the court to grant her estranged hubby instead.

The judge, however, adjourned the case to December 13, 2024 due to the absence of the respondent, AbdulSalam Toheeb.
