3 Fulani Arrested for Allegedly Stealing 55 Cows

Date: 2013-01-28

Detectives from Iwo divisional headquarters of Osun State police command have arrested three Fulani herdsmen for allegedly stealing 55 cows.

The suspects - Sani Ali, Abubakar Dangogo and Muhammed Abul - were arrested with the cows believed to have been stolen from Ilorin, Kwara State.

It was gathered that one good-spirited Nigerian (names withheld)  sighted the suspects while they were controlling the said cows around popular Ori-eru junction, Iwo and recognising them as children of his friend, he reportedly consulted their father who denied knowledge of how his children came about such number of cows.

The man was said to have gone to inform the police who immediately went to arrest the trio.

Crime Reports learnt that it was a herculean task for the police before they could arrest the suspects.

Besides the cows, a locally made pistol, four cartridges and charms were also recovered from the suspects.

After their arrest, it was learnt that the suspects confessed that the cows were stolen at gunpoint from one Muhammed Ibrahim of Alalubora Village, Ilorin.

When contacted, the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Folasade Odoro confirmed the story, saying that the suspects would be charged to a court of appropriate jurisdiction for prosecution after the conclusion of police investigations.
