According to Royal News, the national leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on Monday. The visit was to express their sympathy over the recent passing of his close friend, Ambassador Ghazali in Maiduguri, as well as the Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Ahmad Yusuf-Gobir, among others.

The Union's President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, conveyed their sadness over the losses and informed the Emir that many Union members participated in the burial rites of the late Sarkin Gobir. Additionally, he mentioned that the Maiduguri Branch of the Union had visited the family of Ambassador Ghazali to offer their condolences on behalf of the Emir and the entire Ilorin Emirate.

The President noted that the Emir, being a peaceful and loving father of all, would be concerned with recent events in the Emirate but added that with his continuous prayers and that of others, peace and love shall continue to reign in the Emirate.

Alhaji Abdulmalik thanked the Emir for his fatherly support for the Union and the people of Ilorin before and since his ascension to the throne of his forebears.

He assured the Emir that the Union would continue to work for the peace, unity and prosperity of the Emirate, in particular and Kwara in general ;as he also appreciated the consistent prayers of the Monarch.

Responding, the Emir thanked the Union for its services to the community over the years.

He particularly thanked the Union for the visit as he prayed for the continuous peace, unity and progress of Ilorin Emirate in particular and Nigeria in general .

One other major highlight of the visit was a special prayer for the Emir and the people of the Emirate , which was led by the National Imam of the Union, Shaykh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya.

The President was accompanied on the visit by the National Vice President, Alhaji AbdulRauf Babatunde Issa; the National Treasurer, Alhaji Usman Toyin Salman; Imam Alaaya, a retired Permanent Secretary and former Director-General of the defunct Kwara State Bureau of Lands, Mallam Kale Yusuf and Alhaji Ibrahim Dangana, among others.
