Housewife Seeks Divorce in Court Over Husband's Failure to Provide
According to a news report from Daily Post, Kafayat Ajoke has pleaded with an Ilorin court for a divorce from her husband, Aminullahi Ibrahim, citing his inability to provide food for the family.
The petitioner is also seeking custody of their two children and a monthly maintenance and feeding allowance of ?100,000.
She said, “I noticed that my husband changed after he lost his job one year ago.
“He does not provide enough money for food for the family,” she said.
Responding to the request, the husband, Ibrahim, agreed to the divorce application, saying he could only afford to give his wife N2,000 monthly for the maintenance and feeding of the two children.
“I don't have a job, so I don't have money. This is the main reason my wife wants a divorce,” he said.
The presiding judge, Idris Etsu, however, adjourned the case until July 30, for judgment.
