Kwara State Government to Sanction Health Workers Over Misconduct
    
According to News report from Daily Post, the Kwara State government has pledged to take action against health workers involved in professional misconduct within the state's health sector.
This announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, in response to the reported missing umbilical cord and placenta of a newborn baby at a cottage hospital in Iloffa, Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
In a conversation with journalists, Dr El-Imam emphasised that the government will not tolerate professional misconduct among health workers. She described the recent incident involving the missing umbilical cord and placenta as a serious professional misconduct currently being investigated by the police.
It has been reported that five medical staff at the Iloffa Cottage Hospital have been accused of unprofessionalism regarding the mishandling of a placenta, raising concerns within the Iloffa community. The case is under investigation by the Nigeria Police in Ilorin.
The Commissioner disclosed that “the state ministry of health has commenced its internal investigation into the matter and will ensure that justice is done at the end of both processes.”
El-Imam emphasized the unwavering commitment of the state government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to providing universal health care and quality service for all citizens of the state.
She warned that any attempt to undermine the stance through any act of misconduct would be vigorously dealt with.
