Kwara Trains 1,500 Civil Servants on Productivity, Capacity Enhancement
The Kwara State Government on Tuesday in Ilorin began a capacity enhancement training for 1,500 civil servants who are due for promotion in the state.
The state Head of Service, Susan Oluwole, represented by the Permanent Secretary (Establishment), Mohammed Ibrahim, in her opening remarks at the occasion said the training was to improve the productivity of the civil servants in service delivery.
Mrs Oluwole applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for approving the programme.
She also praised the civil servants for the unrelenting commitment to ensuring efficient service delivery in the state amid the dwindling economy.
Mrs Oluwole charged the participants to be attentive to the lectures in order to achieve the objectives of the programme.
She however warned that anyone who failed the examination after the training would not be promoted to the next grade level.
The HOS also revealed that the state government was currently working with relevant stakeholders towards an acceptable welfare package for the civil servants to meet the current economic reality.
She decried the nonchalant attitude of some workers to duty and the arbitrary search for a foreign job to the detriment of available local ones.
The Supervising Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare), Sabitiu Grillo, appreciated the HOS for organising the training.
She noted that it had provided an advantage for workers to enhance efficiency and proficiency in service delivery.
Mrs Grillo enjoined the participants to make best use of the opportunity, stressing that its significance would manifest when they are back at their respective places of work.
One of the participants who spoke during an interview said the training was an eye-opener, adding that it was a breath of fresh air for civil servants in the state.
