Date: 2024-01-24

A chief and three teenagers abducted by gunmen in Afin community, Ile-Ire District in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State, have been rescued by the police.

Their release followed a manhunt launched by the team of security operatives comprising police, military and local hunters after their abduction on Tuesday last week.

Speaking on their rescue, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, identified the chief as Simon Ibiwoye, the Olukotun of Afin.

She told City & Crime on Monday that, “They (victims) were released over the weekend follow-ing a relentless search and combined effort of the rescue team who stormed the forest and spent days in search of the victims.

“The chief and the three teenagers were driven to the town by the operatives where they were relocated with their families.

“The alleged informants linked to the suspected kidnappers who were earlier arrested in the bush are undergoing investigation.”
