The management of the Ilorin Central Jumaat Mosque weekend raised the alarm over acute water supply shortage to the mosque, blaming the situation on infiltration of its dedicated water lines from the state water corporation.

The inadequate water supply, Blueprint gathered, is already affecting the routine maintenance of the multi- billion naira world class Central Jumma'at Mosque, which has become a source of tourists' attraction to Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state.

The scarcity of water is felt more during the weekly Friday Jumma'at service when worshipers require a lot of water for ablution and toiletries.

The supply of water to the mosque only on Friday as against the former three days by the water board has worsened the situation.

The executive secretary of the mosque, Alhaji Sulaiman Bayero, at a news conference in Ilorin weekend lamented the inadequate water supply to the edifice by the state water board.

Bayero's submissions was corroborated by the head , technical unit of the mosque, Moshood Sayi.

The dou said though, the mosque management has dug a 280 meter borehole to complement the supply of water to the mosque, they lamented that irregular power supply to pump the water to the four 40,000 – liter capacity tanks could not satisfy the water needs of the congregation.
