Offa poly gets new rector

The Federal Government has appointed Dr Kamoru Kadiri as the fifth Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State.

The appointment, which was announced on Monday, came 15 months after the expiration of the tenure of the fourth rector, Dr Lateef Olatunji, who bowed out of the institution on January 12, 2022.

A statement signed by the Director of Information, Public Relations & Protocols of the Polytechnic, Mr Olayinka Iroye, read in part, “The President, Major General Muhamadu Buhari(retd.), has approved the appointment of Dr Kamoru Kadiri as the fifth substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa.

“The appointment letter, signed and personally handed over to Kamoru Kadiri by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, in his office dated April 3, 2023, is with effect from March 29, 2023. The appointment is a five-year single term.

“Before his appointment as rector, he was the Director of Affiliate Degree Programmes and Industrial Collaborations, and was later appointed as Acting Rector of The Polytechnic Iresi, Osun State, on a one-year sabbatical in 2021.”

Kadiri, born on July 8, 1968 in Osogbo, is a registered engineer.

He is a Fellow, Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria; Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers; member, Nigerian Institute of Management; member, Nigerian Institute of Engineering Management; member, Engineering Regulation Bureau and Legislation Board of Nigerian Society of Engineers; and Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Kadiri has two patented inventions and 11 literary works with the Copyright Commission of Nigeria. He has won research grants twice from Tertiary Education Trust Fund and Clintonel Innovation Centre.
