Kwara State has been described as one of the safest states in Nigeria despite the current security challenges confronting Nigeria.

The new commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, Brigadier General A.A. Babalola, disclosed this in Ilorin on Saturday, while receiving the chairman and board members of the Kwara State Television Authority on a courtesy visit to his office.

He said going by statistics, Kwara State records one of the lowest crime rates in the country today, according to a statement by the board in Ilorin on Saturday.

The Brigade Commander commended the state government for its proactiveness and the citizens for their cooperation.

He said his brigade is always ready to work in synergy with other sister security agencies to ensure the safety of all citizens to enable them to go about their lawful duties without let or hindrance.

While expressing delight at the Kwara TV board visit, the armoured officer pledged his command's readiness to partner with Kwara TV in a joint venture that will enhance societal peace and harmony.

Kwara TV board chairman Ahmed Adio, in his remarks, extolled the virtues of the Nigerian military which he described as critical stakeholders in the Nigerian project due to its unique role in protecting the nation's territorial integrity and ensuring the citizens' safety from external aggression.

Alhaji Adio solicited the cooperation of all security agencies in the state to ensure peaceful, credible, fair and transparent 2023 general elections just like the one Kwara State witnessed in 2019.

Adio invited Gen. Babalola to one of the station's flagship programmes, AM DRIVE, a request Gen. Babalola warmly accepted.

A highlight of the visit was the presentation of a customised plaque to the Kwara TV board chairman by Brigadier General Babalola in appreciation of the board's visit to his command.
