The Kwara State Family Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of one Ahmed Yusuf in the Correctional Service Centre for allegedly having unlawful intercourse with a 12-year-old daughter of his landlord.

Yusuf, a Kwara State civil servant, was arraigned on two counts of sexual abuse and exploitation of a child contrary to Section 32 of Kwara State Child Rights Law.

The police report said the victim confessed to her parents that it was Yusuf that had sexual intercourse with her after her mother discovered a bloodstain on her bed.

An investigation conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Women and Children Protection Unit stated that Yusuf had been having illicit affairs with the victim for six months.

A medical report obtained at the Police Training School, Ilorin, showed that the hymen of the victim was broken.

The prosecutor, Akinjide Adisa, urged the court to remand the perpetrator on the basis that his offence was not bailable.

The presiding magistrate, Shade Lawal, ordered his remand in Oke Kura custody while the matter was adjourned till January 20, 2021, for hearing. ?
