Kwara workers resume today after strike suspension

WORKERS of the Kwara State Civil Service and the Local Government Councils will resume in their respective offices on today (Monday) as the state Labour Congress suspended the three-day warning strike to press home the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage in the state.

The organised labour in the state suspended the strike embarked upon by workers on Friday night.

A statement titled, 'Suspension of strike', quoted the Congress as saying that it suspended the strike action to pave the way for the final conclusion of the new wage in the state, urging every worker to return to work as from Monday, October 19, 2020.

The statement read in part, "No worker irrespective of grade level should be harassed, intimidated, molested or victimised as a result of taking part in the strike, as the leaders of the labour movement will not take such lightly

"We will not hesitate to call you back to action in case of any failure on the part of the state government concerning the minimum wage."

The statement was jointly signed by e Issa Ore, Chairman, NLC; Ezekiel Adegoke, Chairman, TUC; and Saliu Suleiman, Chairman, JNC.
