Ahmed Warns Students Against Cultism

Date: 2012-10-08

Kwara State Governor, Mr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has warned students of the state's tertiary institutions to desist from involvement in cultism.

This was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Abdulwahab Oba. Ahmed said culprits would face dire consequences.

He added that that government would implement to the letter the state's edict on cultism.

The governor said apart from the risk of being jailed, any student caught in cultism would be expelled from school.

He was said to have given this warning while addressing representatives of the students under the auspices of National Association of Nigerian Students, at an interactive session on the state of education in the state.

Ahmed reminded the students that the state government's anti-cultism crusade remained on course.

"The law on cultism will take its full course as we cannot fold our arms and allow cultism in our schools because it ruins lives," Ahmed said.

He assured the students of the determination of his administration to raise the standards in schools through the provision of adequate infrastructure and necessary incentives.
