Niger, Kwara, Kebbi, by-elections hold March 14

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed March 14, 2020 for bye-elections in Niger, Kwara and Kebbi states. It made the announcement in a statement yesterday by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye. Niger, Kwara, Kebbi, by-elections hold March 14

"Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, had declared vacancy in Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency of Niger State, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly declared vacancy in Patigi State Constituency, while Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly also declared vacancy in the Kebbi State Constituency."

"Subsequently, the National Assembly, in a letter dated February 10, 2020, informed INEC of the death of Adamu Muhammadu Fagen Gawo, who represented Babura/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, but died on December 31, 2019. "Consequently, the Speaker declared their seats vacant, while INEC fixed Saturday, March 14, 2020 for the bye-election to be held simultaneously with the other bye-elections on that date," he said.
