The Kwara State Government has called for the support of the Federal Government and donor agencies in its drive to revamp the education sector.

The State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq made the call today at the commissioning of the Multi-billion Naira Main Library Complex of Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi decried the shameful conditions of Schools in the state adding that the administration would be spending at least eleven point two billion Naira to revamp infrastructure in various Schools across the State.

He stated that the present administration is poised to raise a generation of Children who are able to cope with the education needs of the twenty first century.

Abdulrazaq noted that the decay in the infrastructure across Primary and secondary schools is better imagined as funds meant for upgrade of facilities at the primary schools were diverted by the previous administration.

The Governor explained that the administration is starting from ground zero and faced with criminal breakdown of basic infrastructure across every sector especially in the education and health sectors.

He enumerated some of the steps taken by his administration to redress the rot in the education sector which include the payment of N250m to offset two months out of the salary owed workers across the State Colleges of Education and paid counterpart fund to various Agencies and Commissions.

Abdulrasaq commended the management of KWASU for its ingenuity and patriotism to stay afloat against all odds pledging that the government would continue to offer its support to help the School achieve its potentials.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary Teritary Education Trust Fund, Professor Suleiman Bogoro described the Library as the best in the Country pledging that the Fund would always support laudable projects.

In his message, the Project Consultant, Architect Mahamud Faworaja said the Library is a complete research centre and run twenty four hours service.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of KWASU, Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah who reeled out his achievements commended TETFUND for its support which he explained would boost learning and research work.
