The authorities of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, have been charged to renew their security mechanism in order to sustain the current peaceful atmosphere in the institution.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting organized by the school during the weekend, a concerned parent, Alhaji Ibrahim Kamaldeen, stressed the need for the varsity to beef up security.

He said the call became necessary in view of the insecurity that was bedeviling the country.

He said; "We thank God that no case of cultism or break down of law and order was recorded since the establishment of this school. But we still have to take steps in strengthening security on campus".

In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sulyman Age AbdulKareem, disclosed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited all the courses offered in the institution.

He urged parents and guardians to assist the school with relevant ideas and advise that would move it forward.

The vice-chancellor stated the university was doing all it could to provide the students with befitting and decent accommodation as well as welfare services.

The Chairman, Stakeholders Forum, Engr. Ahmad Kola Ibrahim, said the meeting was to access the performance of the forum within the last 18 months of its constitution.

He said the forum was running its finance independently and solicited the parents support and cooperation.

Giving the break down on the financial status of the forum, the chairman put both income of the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 session as N68, 000, 000 while the expenditure was put at N67, 332,560.
