KWARA ASSEMBLY TO SCREEN NOMINEES FOR 3 COMMISSIONS...FREEDOM OF INFORMATION BILL PASSES 1ST READING

The Kwara State House of Assembly is to screen and confirm nominees as chairmen and members of three Vacant Statutory Commissions tomorrow at the Floor of the House.

The decision to screen the affected nominees by the Governor Alhaji Abdul Fatah Ahmed and read by the Speaker Dr. Ali Ahmad at the Floor of the House.

The Governor has for the Kwara State Civil Service Commission Alhaji Sakariyyah Onimago as chairman, while Mr, Samuel Bamisaiye and Alhaji Mohammed Koro will serve as members.

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission has Barrister Taiye Eleja as proposed chairman, Alhaji Issa Kayode Abdul, Dr Dele Kayode, Saidu Issa Abdullahi and Alhaji Mohammed Sanni A, Alao will serve as a members.

Mr Lukman Owolewa is the proposed chairman for the State Fiscal Responsibility Commision, while Mohammed Sulyman Atolagbe, Alhaji Danjuma Sabi and Alhaji Babatunde Abdul Raheem will be members.

Speaking in message, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House Hajia Halimat Kperogi to ensure that all the affected submit 30 copies of their credentials by the close of work on Tuesday and come to the House of Assembly with original of their documents at 10.00a.m on Wednesday 22 May,2019.

He said through the government was warning down, the Supreme Court judgement according to him, empowers the legislature to work till the last minute and charged members to ensure that all the nominees must be found worthy in learning ,character and experience to fast track socio-economic transformation of the State.

The Governor had in his letter said the need to nominees replacement became imperative following the expiration of the tenures of chairmen and members of the affected commissions, pointing out that the nominees had been carefully selected, having acquired the right experience and possess the acumen to navigate the affected commission.

Also the House,did first Reading of a bill for a law to make public records and information more freely available, provide access to public records and information, protection of personal privacy, protect serving Public Officers from adverse consequences of disclosing certain kinds of public information without authorization, sponsored by member representing Ilorin North West Constituency Hon. Abdul Rafiu Abdul Rahman.
