Kwara Gov's Wife Warns Against Child Abuse

Date: 2012-09-07

The wife of Kwara State governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, has warned that anyone found engaging in child molestation would face the full weight of the law.

She also urged parents to give utmost priority to the welfare of their children in order to secure their future.

Ahmed said in a statement in Ilorin that no sacrifice was too much for any parent to make in order to ensure the success of the children.

She deplored the attitude of parents who engage their children in child labour, stressing that government would not relent in its efforts to stop the trend.

"As a government, we shall not relent in our efforts to ensure that child labour and child trafficking become a thing of the past in Kwara and anybody caught in the act will not be spared," she said.

Ahmed, however, admonished children to be obedient to their parents and shun any act inimical to their progress.

"As children, we should be submissive to our parents and shun any act that is inimical to our progress and capable of truncating our future," she said.
