Kwara Utd Continue Survival Battle In Ilorin

Date: 2018-05-05

After a commendable performance in Yobe against Yobe Stars last week, where the home side's efforts at scoring were thwarted, Kwara United will host their hitherto hosts in the reverse fixture with the aim of winning the match and helping their course on the table.

The Harmony Warriors are second from the rear on the table with 19 points and a further slide in performance will take them towards relegation. A win for them will take their points haul to 22 and a few steps above the red zone.

But Yobe Stars, which are sitting 12th on the table with 24 points from 18 matches, may exploit Kwara's home vulnerability. With four home wins, two home losses and three home draws, the Harmony Warriors have shown that they can be bridged before their home fans.

In the season's opener, Niger Tornadoes defeated them 2-0 in Ilorin, and not quite long ago, they bowed 0-1 to Rivers United also in Ilorin. This is not mentioning 1-1 draws against El-Kanemi Warriors, Enyimba and Go Round, all in their home.

But one thing will be going for them when they host the match; Yobe Stars have earned only one point from a possible 27 from their away ties. Of the nine matches played outside Damaturu, Yobe Stars have lost all but one, with their match-day three 1-1 draw against Heartland in Owerri being the only exception.
