Date: 2017-12-30

The Omu-Aran Women Forum in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara today donated hospital equipment and other medical items to Omu-Aran General Hospital for better health services to the people. Prof. Olabisi Olasheinde-Williams, president of the Forum, who gave the donation to the Medical Director of th hospital, Dr Kolawole Ibrahim in Omu-Aran, said the equipment are worth N1 million.

The donated items include hospital screens, suction machine, testoscopes, sphygmomanometer, pillows, among others.

Olasheinde-Williams said the donation was meant to complement government efforts geared toward giving succour to hospital patients.

She said that the donation was also part of the Forum's corporate social responsibility to the people at the grassroots.

"Apart from this donation, we have funded the establishment of recreation centre, equipped with facilities within Omu-Aran City Complex for use by visitors, especially children.

"Also recently, we purchased some mini-buses for metropolitan transportation usage to complement the existing commercial motorcycle operation in the town. "The health of our people means a lot to us, hence this donation of equipment to hasten their recovery processes as well as improve their life expectancy status," she said.

Ibrahim thanked the donor for the gesture and promised judicious use of the items.

He described the donation as timely and unprecedented in the history of the hospital.

Ibrahim disclosed that a committee of elders in the community had earlier been constituted with the mandate of garnering various forms of assistance for the needy patients.

"It is not only on monetary terms but general forms of assistance and support that can bring succour to our patients, especially those on admission.

"We felt government alone cannot provide all the amenities and with this committee in place most of the challenges are becoming a thing of the past," he said.

Chief Bisi Adeyemi, the President, Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA) commended the forum for being a vanguard of community integration.

He charged members of the forum not to relent in contributing their quota toward making life better for the people of the community.

"We in ODA will not only support your lofty ideas and initiative but will also give due recognition and commendation where necessary to boost your morales," he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) a chat.
