Gov Ahmed Advocates Regulatory Body For Religious Preaching
Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has advocated proper regulatory system on religious preachings to avoid extremism, intolerance and misguidance of the nation’s youths.
The governor made the call while receiving the National Executives of Jama’atul Izalatul Bidiah Wal Iqamatil Sunnah (JIBWIS) led by its national chairman, Shaikh Abdullahi Bala-Lau at Government House, Ilorin.
Ahmed noted that there is an urgent need for religion groups in the country to devise an acceptable and workable means of curtailing indoctrination of youths by religious extremists. He advised JIBWIS to partner with similar religious bodies in ensuring that correct information and teachings that would show the beauty and sweetness of Islam is disseminated in Nigeria.
The governor said there are misrepresentations and misconceptions on various teachings of Islam which must be addressed by relevant Islamic bodies to ensure that the right information is disseminated to the public about Islam.
“As leaders of religious organisations, you have critical roles to play in redirecting the society to live a better God guided direction,” the governor said.
He commended the organisation for its efforts in propagating Islam and for preaching peaceful coexistence in the country.
He also advocated acquisition of both western and Islamic education by muslim youths in order to maximise opportunities and properly understand dynamics of the modern world.
Speaking earlier, the national chairman, Jama’atul Izalatul Bidiah Wal Iqamatul Sunnah (JIBWIS), Shaikh Abdullahi Bala-Lau had called on Nigerian leaders to always give sense of direction to the teeming youths particularly through skill acquisition programmes.
He advised Muslims to follow the real teachings of Islam and laws of the land in order to ensure peace and harmony in the country.
Bala-Lau said the organisation, had in the past 40 years rendered humanitarian services to a lot of Nigerians across religious divide.
