Count Saraki out of Osun local politics - Kwara APC

Date: 2017-06-13

The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State on Monday dissociated the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki from the local politics in Osun State.

Kwara APC has noted the irresponsible insinuations arising from the conduct of APC's screening exercise for aspirants preparatory to Osun West Senatorial District bye-election.

The party has also noticed the failed attempt by a sponsored online platform to link the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki to the outcomes of the screening process.

By this press statement, the APC in Kwara State clearly declare that Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has no interest, either direct or remote, in the choice of APC candidate for Osun West Senatorial District bye-election.

Therefore, Dr. Saraki has no reason to move against anyone. In fact, Dr. Saraki did not move against anyone. He has no interest and played no role in the reported disqualification of any aspirant.

It should be noted that Dr. Saraki has never been accused of political meddlesomeness since he joined politics about 17 years ago. The irresponsible insinuation on the local politics of Osun State is, therefore, strange. It should be considered as outright falsehood.

Meanwhile, It should also be noted that this empty speculation is apparently being sponsored by those who are uncomfortable with the improved relationship between the Senate President and the party leadership across board.

The President of the Senate remains committed and focused on issues aimed at improving the standard of living of Nigerians. For him, this is not the time to play politics, but the time to work harder to consolidate on the landmark achievements and successes of the Nigerian Senate in the last two years. SIGNED: Alhaji Sulyman Buhari,

Publicity Secretary,

APC, Kwara State.

12th of June, 2017.
