Lawmaker empowers her constituent with Items worth Millions of Naira

Public office holders in the country have been urged to be more sensitive to the yearning of the down trodden to make democratic governance more meaningful to the people.

The chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti local government area of Kwara state Alhaji Ganiyu Raji made the call in Osi, during the empowerment programme held by a member representing Ekiti Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly Hon. Felicia Edun Owolabi .

Alhaji Raji explained that the insecurity pervading the nation could be overcome when public office holders and government at all levels demonstrated more commitment towards meeting the yearnings of the masses, and praised the APC led government for embarking on social programmes aimed at alleviating the suffering of the down troddens.

In his speech,the chairman League of Imams in Ekiti local Government Area Sheikh Ajisefini . Imam described life and positions as transient and praised Hon . Owolabi for given back to her constituent The clergy described Hon Owolabi as a worthy ambassador who dedicated her life and endownments towards serving people and enjoined her to sustain the sterling qualities.

Equally speaking at the empowerment programme, a former Commissioner for Enviroment and Forestry Hon. Samuel Bamijaiye described the Senate President as a man whose leadership in the National Assembly had made democracy more meaningful to the people, then prayed for his success in the task of improving on the well-being of the people and in moving the nation to a greater height.

The former Vice Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Hon. Olu Dada in his remark, described Hon. Owolabi as a grassroot politician who exhibits genuine commitment towards enhancing the well-being of her people.

In their separate remarks, the Kwara South Senatorial Women Leader, Youth Leader in the Constituency, Mrs Elizerbeth Oguntola, Mr Ganiyu Kehinde, Kehinde Eleiyele and Hajia Akanke Oyelowo who were visibly delight over the empowerment programme, assured that beneficiaries would make judicious use of the items, saying that it would insulate both women and Youth against the effects of economic recession.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Forestry, Mr. Sayo Amos who is also the Chairman organising Committee, said the scheme was part of the series of empowerment outlined by the lawmaker to make the people of her constituency self sustaining.

Mr. Amos who enumerated the achievements of the legislator, praised the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed and Senator Rafiu Ibrahim for their commitments towards ensuring the spread of democracy, noting that Hon.Owolabi had contributed significantly towards the socio- economic and political emancipation of Ekiti Constituency.

Earlier in her remark, Hon Owolabi who praised the Senate President, Governor Abdul Fatah Ahmed and the people of the area for considering her worthy of the various opportunities to serve the people and promised to continue to justify trust reposed in her.

Hon. Owolabi equally eulogised the people of the area for choosing to be part of mainstream politics and for their age long support to Saraki's political dynasty.

She enumerated her achievements, which according to her, included bringing into fore problems confronting the people of the area, skill acquisitions for Women and Youth, placement of youth in both Local and state government's Service, fast tracking grading of traditional rulers and the take off of Abubakar Sola Saraki University and promised to continue to partner with Micro Finance Bank as well as Bank of Industries to assist Women and Youth with entrepreneurial skill in expanding their businesses and petty trading.
