Kwara Federation Cup gets date, 8 teams to participate

The Secretary, Kwara Football Association (FA), Kehinde Jimoh, has said that eight teams in the state would begin their quest for the 2017 Federation Cup on April 4.

Wednesday in Ilorin Jimoh said that the teams were expected to battle for the state's two slots in the national finals.

He said Lubcon FC would lock horns with Big Stars FC in the opening match of the competition at the Main bowl of the Kwara Stadium Complex.

The Kwara FA scribe explained that Offa FC would take on Nigeria Professional Football League side (NPFL), Ilorin-based Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC on April 5.

According to him, the defending champions, Kwara United would battle Musty FC on April 6.

The last quarter-final match is between Kwara United Feeder team and Kwara Football Academy (KFA) on April 7.

Jimoh added that the winner of the match between Kwara United FC and Musty FC would take on the winner of the match between Kwara United Feeders team and KFA in the first semi-finals on April 10.

The second semi-final match, the Scribe explained, would take place on April 19.

It will be between the winner of the ABS and Offa FC match taking on the winner of the match between Lubcon FC and Big Stars FC.

The final, according to the Secretary, will hold on May 6.

Jimoh noted that two teams registered to take part in the female category of the competition in the state.

They are Sure Babes FC and Moje Queens of Erin-Ile and they will play on May 5 to determine who the winner in the state.
