Army urged to strengthen its security network across Nigerian borders

KWARA State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has charged the Nigerian Army to strengthen its security networks across the Nigerian borders against external aggression.

Governor Ahmed gave the charge when he received the new General Officer Commanding, Division two of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major-General Chukwunedum Abraham at the Government House, Ilorin.

He emphasised the need for the Nigerian Army to always check the influx of foreigners with criminal intents, alleging that some foreigners do cross border unhindered to cause mayhem in the country.

Governor Ahmed harped on the importance of security to the socio-economic development of any nation, noting that there cannot be development in an unsafe environment.

He alerted Kwarans to be wary of the fleeing Boko Haram Terrorists by being vigilant and security conscious at all times and appealed to the people of the state to report security threat to appropriate quarters.

Governor Ahmed promised that the state would improve on its support to the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Cantonment in the areas of education and basic amenities to enhance the living standard of the people.

He commended the GOC for visiting formations within areas of his responsibility and for isolating challenges in each formation for appropriate attention.

Governor Ahmed also thanked the Nigerian Army for truly supporting his government in maintaining peace and order in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the General Officer Commanding two Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major-General Chukwunedum Abraham had assured that the Nigerian Army is poised to guide against external aggression at all times.

He sought the support of all stakeholders in sensitising the public on the need to be security conscious as Nigerian military had chased away terrorists from the Sambisa forest.

Major-General Chukwunedum Abraham was in the state in continuation of the tour of formations under two Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan.
