Educationist calls for scrapping of early Child Education

Date: 2017-02-20

An educationist and management consultant, Mallam Aliyu Badmus has advocated for the scrapping of early child education in the country.

He is of the view that parents should take care of their children till the age of six before enrolling them in schools.

Mallam Badmus who is the Proprietor of Iqra Group of Schools in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital made these suggestions while answering questions from newsmen.

The educationist called on the National Assembly to put in place a law that would make it an offense for parents to enroll their children in schools before the age of six and also an offense not to register their children in school at the age of six.

According to him, children as part of developmental process need freedom to develop their ability adding that early education for the underage would give them great challenge beyond their abilities.

He lamented the falling standard of education in the country claiming that some university graduates even find it extremely difficult to write application letters while some biology graduates could not make use of the microscope during recruitment exercises.

Mallam Badmus put the blame of the deteriorating standard of education to the government which has refused to fund the education sector which according to him, led to the emergence of private schools and the parents who are corrupting their children right from tender ages.

He therefore urged the government to come out with clear education policy and not policies that would only be on paper without actualization and also put adequate infrastructures in place in classroom and for research work.
