The Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Ilorin, is hosting National Seminar to boost cassava production. Themed: Unlocking the Potentials of Cassava Leaves as Livestock Feed in Nigeria, the seminar will delivered by MD/CEO LUFARMCO Investments Ltd, Prof Dolapo Lufadeju.

The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, November, 24th at Merit House, Abuja.

The programme is expected to attract policy makers, practitioners, academics and other stakeholders to brainstorm on and address the identified topical issue in the sector that has been placed on the front burner. Hon. Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh is keynote Speaker.

It would be recalled that in 2012, ARMTI was commissioned to conduct the first baseline study on agricultural commodity value chain development (VCD); the result of which it then proceeded to present round the nation through sensitisation workshops in each geo-political zones.

Having identified the commodities where each zone had comparative advantage, ARMTI has continued to train farmers, facilitators, administrators and other members of the value chain on how tomaximize the VCD concept.

This National Seminar promises to identify the benefits and challenges of using cassava leaves as livestock feed in Nigeria; proffer practical solutions to identified challenges and design strategies for developing the cassava leaf value chain.
