Date: 2016-11-02

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, has received reports of visitation panels to College of Education, Oro and College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin.

Receiving the reports separately from the panels, Governor Ahmed said the era of irregular and unauthorized recruitment, revenue leakages and general inefficiency in state owned tertiary educational institutions was over.

According to the Governor, "in the light of the nationwide economic challenges, difficult decision would be made to ensure that staff of the institutions become more effective and efficient in their duty. "Our academic institutions must be efficiently run, self sufficient and reputable among their peers. Any one in these institutions found guilty of illegal recruitment or abuse of public funds will be dealth with according to the extant regulations and the laws of the land".

Dr Ahmed expressed the hope that the reports of the panels will bring the challenges of payment of workers' salaries in the colleges to an end.

On the College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Gov Ahmed said "if necessary the law establishing the school would be reviewed in order to improve on the level of specialization of the school to allow for expansion".

The Chairman of the visitation panel to the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Prof. Mohammed Ibrahim and his counterpart for the College of Education, Oro, Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi expressed the hope that the recommendations of their panels would assist the state government in the repositioning of the schools for academic excellence.
