Kwara commissioner advocates prayers for economic recovery
Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Muas Yeketi, yesterday canvassed "serious prayers" for the revival of the nation's economy.
Yeketi, during a joint press briefing with his colleague from the Information Ministry, Mahmoud Ajeigbe and Aanu Ibiwoye, Special Adviser on Agriculture and Rural Water Scheme to the state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, and the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Muideen Akorede, said the nation's economic situation requires divine intervention.
He stated that: "We may need to pray more for our nation because nobody seems to know what is happening again as far as our economy is concerned. There is nothing too difficult for prayers to resolve."
Yeketi, who was reacting to the incessant strike by workers in the education sector nationwide due to alleged non-payment of teachers' salaries, said; "the state government is not owing any teacher salaries. If any teacher is having an issue with salary in the state today, it must be at the State universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), I mean the local council level and not the responsibility of the state."
He said the ministry has shut down 10 primary and secondary schools in Ilorin West Local Council area of the state for operating alleged "illegal schools."
