Kwara Govt. assures on health care delivery
Kwara State Government has assured the Public of adequate and accessible health care delivery in the State.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Prince Tunji Moronfoye, gave the assurance during a seminar organized for Press Secretaries and Information Officers by the Kwara State AIDS Control Agency (KWASACA) in collaboration with the ministry's committee on HIV/ AIDS in llorin, the state capital, recently.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Director of Finance and Supply, Mr. Jacob Babawale, said that the role of information officers/press secretaries is to adequately inform, educate and enlighten the public on government activities, policies and programmes.
Similarly, the Director Information Services, Mr. Solomon Odeyemi, urged the participants to help disseminate and correct the bad impression of people on the victims of HIV/AIDS.
The director stated that with correct and adequate information, the issue of stigmatization would soon be a thing of the past in our society.
Mr. Odeyemi advised every individual to go for HIV/AIDS test which he described as a first step towards fighting the menace
In their lecture the two facilitator at the seminar the project manager of the Agency, Dr Johnson Adegboyega Adeniyi and the general manager of Radio Kwara Alhaji Abuldulateef Adedeji, sald the agency has made tremendous effort to sensitize the people to known their HIV/AIDS status at the nearest hospital.
The duo disclosed that HIV/AIDS test and drug administration in hospitals across the state are free of charge, adding that with the state government's effort and collaboration with the agency, the spread of the drastically.
The facilitators, therefore advised the public to associate with the victims, empower and avoid stigmatizing them which kills faster than the disease itself
