UNILORIN matriculates 11,057 students

Date: 2016-01-30

Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, on Friday urged the 11,057 matriculating students of the institution to imbibe good character in learning.

Ambali gave the advice at the 2015/2016 matriculation ceremony of the university in Ilorin.

He told the students in his speech entitled: "Character and Learning" to work hard and uphold the university code of ethics.

The vice chancellor said the institution would not hesitate to expel any student found wanting as learning without character is futile.

Ambali noted that out of 103,000 students who applied for admission in the university, only 11,057 were successful.

He explained that the Faculty of Agriculture had the highest students with 1,398 admitted, while the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences had 56 admitted students, among other faculties.

While reading the university oath to the students, Prof. Emmanuel Dada, Registrar of the university, warned the students against involving in pornography or indecent dressing and cultist activity.

"Any student found in any of these acts shall be expelled," he warned.
