Enroll your children in public schools - Yeketi tells teachers
Teachers serving under the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development have been advised to enroll their children in public schools for sustenance of education standard.
The advice was given by Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Engineer Musa Yeketi while speaking with newsman in his office on Wednesday.
He admonished the teachers serving under his ministry as a way of showing their commitments to development of education in the state, pointing out that registering their own children in their respective schools would give the desired sound education to the future generation.
He also urged all political office holders in the state to lead by example by registering their own children in public schools, stating that commissioners, permanent secretaries, directors, principal officials of various ministries should enroll their children in public schools.
The commissioner added that all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the ministry of education and human capital development would also be directed to follow suit for proper monitoring of education.
He said "teachers should have their children as students in their various schools where they teach". "You don't sell the food you can not eat to the public, you must have a taste of it", he maintained.
He noted that registering children in public schools should be everybody's concern to ensure standard of education at every school in the state, hoping that this will put everybody on their toes for an improvement on education standard.
"Everybody will want to know the teachers who failed in his or her official responsibility to give the students best education" he added.
