Legislators Clear Owolewa, Two Others Over Recruitment

Date: 2015-12-18

The Kwara State House of Assembly has exonerated the Chairman of Irepodun local government area of the state Alh Lukman Owolewa from any wrongdoing.

The House of Assembly had about a fortnight ago suspended Owolewa and seven other council chairmen, following a request from Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed who had in a letter to the Speaker of the House, Dr Ali Ahmad, accused the council chairmen of carrying out illegal recruitment exercise.

However, a committee that was set up by the House to investigate the matter absolved Owolewa and his counterparts from Moro and Baruten local government areas. The House in its resolution after the submission of the report of Jimoh Akanni-led committee, exonerated the chairmen of Moro, lrepodun and Baruten, holding that the three council chairmen did not conduct any illegal recruitment exercise.
