Press Release: PDP sponsoring ex-councillors against Kwara Govt - APC
In a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party said the planned protest by ex-councillors is unnecessary and politically-motivated.
?"We have noted the threat made by ex-councillors, under the aegis of Ex – Local Government Political Office Holders 2007 – 2010, that they will embark on protest over outstanding severance allowance.
"They cannot claim ignorance of our financial challenges as a state and the current audacious efforts of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to make Kwara State a self-sustaining state. The ex-councillors should therefore align themselves with the realities of this challenging period.
"The Kwara State Government will pay severance allowances to ex-councillors in the state when the government is financially buoyant to fund such obligation.
"Meanwhile, it should be noted that majority of these ex-councillors are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and reliable information attest to the fact that the leadership of PDP has hijacked the group to pursue narrow political interests in a bid to ignite an atmosphere of political unrest and instability in the State.
"In the light of the above, security agencies are urged to be wary of groups that have inordinate plans to cause political unrest in the state under the guise of protests, the statement read.
