Following controversy generated by the new tax policy in Kwara State, the House of Assembly, on Thursday urged people of the state to forward their complaints to the legislature.

Speaker of the House, Dr. Ali Ahmad, said the House would not keep silent and allow the government introduce a policy that will not benefit the people.

He said: "I am just one of two million Kwarans that agree and it seems some Kwarans have problem with IGR, and I urge them to approach the state assembly. They should come forward with petitions so that we can look for a solution".

"We will call for public hearing, invite the commissioner or whoever is in charge so that stakeholders can ask questions. Rather than doubt the government, why don't they bring the matter to us? Once our attention is drawn to it, we will call the government to account and give details on tax collection as well as what it aims to achieve", he said.
