After a series of political bouts festered by frictions, clamour for positive change, accountability and transparency at the House of Representatives, in contrary to public perception of Nigerian legislators who seldom consult the people whom they represent; Dr Abubakar Amuda Kannike, the Honourable representing Ilorin-South/Ilorin-East Constituency, on August 22, made a productive stretch to Fufu, Akanbi Ward-1 to articulate his commitment to serve.

Without been evasive about his long absence from his constituency since his emergence as the representative, Dr. Kannike gave an explicit explanation on the positively surmounted legislative hurdles and challenges in the House of Assembly which had earlier prevented him from reaching out to his people.

Through the use of a witty proverb, he appreciated the opportunity given him to represent the people, and he buttressed the reasons for his absence thus: ''when the call for cultivation is made and you climb the ladder to hide above thatched roof, if you hear that pounded yam is being served, dare not come down from the roof to feast with those who were earlier saddled with the responsibility of cultivation.'' The Honourable however promised to always keep the people abreast of his every move and ensure that their demands are judiciously tabled in the House of Representatives.

The Chairman of APC in Akabi Ward-1 Honourable AbdulHakeem also shared some fascinating insights into the yearnings of the people and congratulated the Honourable for his victory at the poll.
