An eyewitness told our correspondent on Friday that the victim, a middle-aged man, had withdrawn some money from one of the first generation banks on Unity Road, and headed for his destination on a commercial motorcycle when the robbers attacked him.

The robbers, who carried out their operation in a cab, it was learnt, shot sporadically into the air to scare people away before pursuing their victim to a junction at Obbo Road/Midland area and shot him.

According to a source, the police apprehended the robbers while they were attempting to attack another victim.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Dabo Ezekiel, confirmed the incident, stating that a pistol was recovered from the robbers.

He said the identity of the deceased had yet to be ascertained while his lifeless body had been deposited at a mortuary.
