Man, 20, held over rape

A 20-year-old electrician, Saka Wasiu of airport area in Ilorin, Kwara State, was yesterday remanded in prison for allegedly raping a lady. It was gathered that the case was transferred from Adewole Divisional Police Headquarters, Ilorin, to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department and was reported to the police by the victim on July 11, the same date she was raped.

The complainant said on the day of the incident, she was on her way to work when she was accosted by the suspect, who lured her to his brother's house. The prosecution said Saka Wasiu has confessed to the crime. Magistrate I. J. Bamigboye, in her ruling ordered his remand at Mandala Prison Yard.
