Baraje Condemns Rise in Boko Haram Attacks

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC ), Alhaji Kawu Baraje has advised Muslims to use the last few days of Ramadan to intensify prayers for peace and tranquility to reign in Nigeria.

Baraje also charged the newly appointed service chiefs to be more professional, "shun partisan politics, be pro-active and work in synergy with other security agencies in the country in discharging their duties".

In a statement Wednesday, the former PDP acting National Chairman also condemned the renewed spate of bombings in the country, describing the insurgents as non-Muslims.

He called on Muslims to use the remaining few days of Ramadan to pray to end terrorists' attack and other challenges confronting the nation.

He said the activities of Boko Haram sect was becoming more frightening with the use of under aged females for suicide bombing, adding that the renewed wave of attacks even during the holy month of Ramadan had confirmed that the insurgents are not Muslims.

The APC chieftain who is the Founder of Baraje Centre for Arabic Studies, Ilorin reiterated that Islam is a religion of peace which forbids killing of fellow human beings.

He expressed confidence that with the pro- active actions taken so far by the Muhammadu Buhari's administration and the appointment of new service chiefs, the activities of the terrorists would soon be a thing of the past.

The APC Chieftain urged Nigerians to assist the security personnel by providing them with useful information about people with questionable characters and strange objects.

The statement urged Muslims to allow the teachings of the Ramadan to continue to live with them even after the fasting.
