Kwara APC backs Saraki's bid for Senate presidency
All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara South has urged the leadership of the party, senators-elect and other stakeholders to support Senator Bukola Saraki 's bid for the seat of Senate president.
The group made the call in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr. Fatimah Amolegbe, the Secretary, Mr. Tayo Awodiji and the Woman leader, Alhaja Olabisi Awodiji.
he group stated that the call become imperative because Senator Saraki had the leadership qualities to lead the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
As two terms governor of Kwara State and a former chairman of the Governor's Forum, the group said Saraki had the administrative experience that would benefit the nation if he emerged as Senate president. It stated that Senator Saraki's contributions to the electoral success of APC in Kwara and the federal level were enormous and deserved to be honored with the position.
The group recalled that Saraki dropped his presidential ambition in the interest of the party, adding that in the interest of fairness, equity and justice, and considering his enormous contributions to the success of the party, he should be compensated with the position. It commended the APC senators, who had given Saraki their support under the aegis of 'Like-minded Senators', while wishing the nation good leadership during the 8th National Assembly.
